About the Author

Dr. Takumi Ichimura received M.E and PhD.degrees in engineering from Toin Univesity of Yokohama in 1994 and 1997 respectively. Currently, he is with Hiroshima City University. He is working on theory and practical applications of knowledge­based intelligent systems and their applications. Recently, he developed an emotion oriented intelligent system. He is a member of the editorial advisory board of the inter­national KES journal. He is also an editor-in-chief of a hook series on information sci­ence technology published by Serendip Team of Shogakukan Inc. Japan. 

Professor Katsumi Yoshida received his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the School of Medicine, Keio University in 1978 and 1982 respectively. He was a research fellow at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (USA) between 1985 and 1986. He has been the Head of Department of Preventive Medicine in St. Marianna University School of Medicine since 1994. His research interests include epidemiology, medical informatics and preventive medicine. He is a member of the editorial boards of a number of journals in medicine and engineering.
